Jan-Clemens Lampe is als Vughts beeldend kunstenaar en dichter, ook fotograaf, liever gezegd foto-graficus, omdat dat woord een goed beeld geeft van wat hij doet als foto-graaf, dus als lichtschrijver en als graveur van beelden. Elk werk is een beeld van het verhaal dat ontstaat tijdens het werk. Het verhaal van zijn emoties. Wat anders? Elk werk scherpt de fantasie, zoals de fantasie de basis is van wat de kunstenaar verbeeldt.
Lampe, in 1938 geboren te Utrecht, heeft het licht van de fotografie al vroeg gezien: "De kunstzinnigheid zat er op de lagere school al in. Ik heb de kost verdiend met het bedenken en uitvoeren van organisatie- en automatiseringsprojecten. Maar ik fotografeer al sinds ik een jaar of elf was. Fotografie is een soort transportmiddel, een manier om over mijn introversie heen te stappen. Ik mis een spiegel. Ik bedoel daarmee ook het gemis van een partner."
Hoe introvert Lampe ook zijn mag, zijn werk is een open boek, in ieder geval voor hen die oog hebben voor de verbeelding van de emoties die hij graveert in zijn werken, met licht, lijn en kleur, met beelden, figuren en letters. In zijn werk is het woord beeld geworden, en heeft het beeld het hoogste woord.
Begin negentiger jaren heeft de autodidact Lampe zijn werk verdiept door de fotografie uit te breiden met andere technieken. Elementen uit het fotografisch werk keren terug in de werken met gemengde technieken. De thema's uit de fotografie zijn omgezet in non-figuratieve composities in acryl en olie pastel, en in driedimensionale composities met boekdelen, hout, metaal, textiel en memorabilia. Een onderdeel van de gemengde technieken zijn de zogenaamde bodyprints, een stempel methode met schmink en water colour of met acryl verf.
Woord en beeld krijgen hun plaats binnen omlijstingen die meer schrijn dan lijst zijn, en die het werk een schijn van heiligheid en geiligheid geven. Elk werk is een teken van emotie, een teken aan de wand, een teken van Jan-Clemens Lampe.

Jan-Clemens Lampe is (as visual artist and poet) also a photographer, better to say a photo-graphicus, because this word is the right expression for what he does as photo-graphicus, thus as a light writer and as a graphic artist of images. Each work is an image of the story that comes into being during action. The story of his emotions. What else? Each work creates fantasy, as fantasy is the base of what the artist creates.
Lampe, born in 1938 in Utrecht (The Netherlands), saw the light of the photography early: "The artistry was already there in the early school years. I have made my living by inventing and the realization of organization- and ICT projects. But I was already taking pictures since I was a boy at the age of eleven. Photography is a kind of vehicle, a way to overcome my introversion. I miss a mirror. I also mean by that the missing of a partner."
How introvert Lampe may be, his work is an open book, in any case for those who are fully alive to the imagination of feelings witch he engraves in his work, with light, lines and color, with images, figures and characters. In his work the word has become an image, and the image is powerful.
In the early nineties Lampe, as autodidact, has made his work more profound by increasing the photography by using other techniques. Elements from his photo work return in the works with mixed media. The themes in photography are transposed in non-figurative compositions in acryl and oil pastel, and in three-dimensional compositions with parts of books, wood, metal, fabrics and memorabilia. A item in the mixed media is the so-called "body prints", a stamping method with grease paint and watercolor or with acrylic.
Word and image are placed within frames witch are more shrine than frame, and gif the work a appearance of holiness and lewdness. Each work is an image of emotion, a writing on the wall, a writing by Jan-Clemens Lampe.
End nineties Lampe published poems and some of the poems are designed in corten steel.
Lampe exhibited much of his work, since 1986 amongst others in the Provincial government building in 's-Hertogenbosch, Gallery Polman in Malden, Mediation "Art-Today" and Gallery "Kunst Allerlei" in Amsterdam, Photo gallery Tekijk in Apeldoorn, Gallery Pjotr in Tilburg, Atelier Deco-Art in Zaltbommel, Gallery Marijke Raaijmakers in Grubbenvorst, Galerie DNK in Dorst, Galerie Van Aerts in Vessem, Gallery Bogaard Art in Helmond and Gallery DE Hoge Hees in Eersel.
A lot of his work is in company-, government- and private collections.
